Being of a different orientation has caused me a lot of fears and restrictions.
There is no freedom of expression and the community is very hateful towards same sex relationship, affairs or marriage. A whooping 14 years imprisonment for anyone/couples found in love or engaged in sexual activities.
Akinnifesi Olumide Olubunmi, was accused of being gay and was attacked on the 17th of February, 2016. He died the following day. Many people have taken to his Facebook wall to write some less-than-friendly things about him which I do not want to experience.
Whatever the case maybe, it shows how determined the law is to hunt down and thwart all gay practices in many parts of Africa. We are never allowed to express feelings towards partner in public.
I want to be free to express myself, accepted for my orientation and treated with equal rights just the way it is for heterosexuals and polygamy is why I want to travel out of Africa for a friendly society that allows me to unleash my full potential and achieve happiness.
As part of my plans, I want to renew my African passport which expired in June this year and apply for visa to any accommodating country preferably USA or Canada to continue my career in telecommunications engineering and also meet my mate in an environment where same sex relationship is legal and acceptable by the community.
